When the iPad first came out, people thought, “Whatever, I have a laptop for that.” Very quickly, though, the abilities of the iPad became better understood. It wasn’t long before all the main suppliers of mobiles and computers wanted in on on the fast-growing action. Tablets started popping up all over the place. Of course, Dell is trying to find its piece of the pie. The product offering Dell is pinning its hopes on is the Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. We’ll evaluate this device in this article and provide you the answers you need for you to determine if you should purchase or not.
It’s simpler to recommend a device when the company that makes it has a good reputation (like Verizon Cell Phones) – that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell isn’t known for the quality of the products it makes. The company likewise has a dubious track record of providing customer service. Based on customer feedback, it appears that as soon as your warranty runs out, you are going to get a bill for calling customer support. Buying a product from this company may have future implications – and not just cost – which may well outweigh the immediate savings from it being a comparatively cheap purchase.
Multitasking is facilitate by the tablet’s operating system, a version of the Android OS dubbed “Froyo.” You should be able to listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data current, and be notified of various things through the system’s notification service without being forced to keep any specific application open and running. Friends and business contacts will always be able to reach you on your tablet because it lets you access your email accounts, including Gmail, quite easily.
Video chat was not included with the initial iPad offering, and it’s great that it is with this tablet. Video chat comes built in to this tablet via a front-facing panel camera and Qik software. But oh dear, yes, there is a caveat: someone with the same Dell tablet, or something compatible, presents no problem – otherwise, incommunicado you will remain. So there is no an all-encompassing video chat program available. A bonus for this Dell tablet is that it comes with the On Demand service from Blockbuster. Admittedly, however, Blockbuster’s recent troubles make us think twice about recommending the tablet.
As yet, there aren’t lots of reviews about this specific product although several people are questioning what the purpose of this product could really be. It isn’t an encompassing gadget – it doesn’t have the capability to communicate between non Streak-compatible devices so its functionality is very limited. But, if you think you’re missing out and would like to learn whether tablets are really the thing for you, this is an affordable way for you to figure it out. Bearing in mind the earlier caveats, do consider your purchase carefully before committing any money.
